Panagis Magdalinos is a research associate in the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the University of Athens (UoA). In 2010 he acquired his PhD diploma entitled “Linear and Non Linear Dimensionality Reduction for Distributed Knowledge Discovery” from the Department of Informatics of the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) under the supervision of associate professor Michalis Vazirgiannis. He also holds an M.Sc. in Information Systems from AUEB and a B.Sc. degree in Informatics and Telecommunications from UoA.
He has been working as a research associate for the SCAN group since 2004 and has participated in a number of European research projects, namely E²R, E²R II, E3, SelfNET and CONSERN undertaking technical as well as managerial duties. His research interests focus on supervised and unsupervised knowledge extraction from distributed data collections (i.e. Learning and Mining in Distributed Environments, Parallel Data Mining, Database Management Systems, Large Scale Applications, Cloud Computing, Data Mining, Information Retrieval)
