Civil Protection System in conjunction with Digital Twins and Internet Of Things – VISION

In the context of the Civil Protection System that has been actively developed by the SCAN Laboratory, a plethora of emergency mechanisms and operations are introduced concerning the risk assessment and management in case of emergency events. These mechanisms and operations Include but are not limited to:

  • Privacy Preserving Civilian Localization (PPCL)
  • Efficient Evacuation Planning and Routing (EEPR)
  • Safety Point Identification (SPI)
  • Emergency Infrastructures Identification (EII)
  • Risk Analysis and Assessment (RAA)

The deployment of the aforementioned mechanisms are made possible through the design and implementation of a Digital Twin model of SCAN Lab’s indoor premises, in conjunction with the generous offer in terms of equipment from Zarifopoulos S.A. (www.zarifopoulos.com), which includes a magnitude of sensors and fire detection systems. The end result is an online platform, which targets to provide real-time monitoring by exploiting data collected by the integrated sensors and can immediately and effectively support, using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) algorithms, the aforementioned mechanisms and operations.

The current initiative, which combines the concept of Digital Twins, along with the ever evolving field of Internet-of-Things (IoT) and Industry 4.0 leads the way towards an innovative and promising future in the area of civilian protection systems.
