Dr. Sokratis Barmpounakis is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in SCAN group, Dept. of Informatics and Telecommunications. He holds a Ph.D. in “Context-based Resource Management and Slicing for SDN-enabled 5G Smart, Connected Environments”, since May 2018. Dr. Barmpounakis obtained his Engineering Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering, from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 2010. From 2010 until 2013, he worked as a Research Associate at the University of Geneva, Switzerland, in several projects (Swiss and European), as a member of the QoL group. Since March 2013, he is a researcher in the SCAN group, actively involved in numerous European Projects and industrial contracts, having also undertaken managerial roles, coordinating the University of Athens team. Since 2018, he serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the University of Athens. Dr. Barmpounakis has more than 180 citations, and he is a co-inventor of 2 patents, approved and filed in the World Intellectual Property Organisation. His main fields of interest are: 5G, AI-assisted Networking for intelligent resource management, Network Function Virtualization, and Software Defined Networking. Since 2010, he is also a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece.

Mr. Panagiotis Kontopoulos obtained his four-year Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (UoA), in the Department of Informatics and elecommunications. Currently works as a Research Associate in the Software Centric & Autonomic Networking (SCAN) Lab of UoA in conjunction with his Master of Science (M. Sc.) from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (UoA), in the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications, with a specialization in Telecommunications and Networks. His main fields of interest are Software-Defined Networking (SDN), Software-Defined Wireless Local Area Networking (SDWLAN), distributed systems, mobile communication systems and services in future networks.

He obtained his B.Sc from Department ofInformatics and Telecommunications, National and Kapodistrian University ofAthens (NKUA) with a specialization in “Networking and Telecommunications”. Hecompleted his Master’s Degree with a specialization in “Computer Networking”, atthe same Department. He is an active research member of the SCAN laboratory sinceJanuary 2016. He is distinguished for his strong background in the fields of analyzingand processing big data, software developing concerning Wireless Sensor Networks,and also designing and developing traffic algorithms for mobile networks. His mainfields of interest are: Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, 5G Networks,Network Slicing and Context-Aware Resource/Mobility Management.

Mr. Dimitris Kassos obtained his four-year Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) from National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (UoA), in the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications. He is currently working as a system Administrator at the Software Centric and Autonomic Networking (SCAN) Lab of UoA. His main fields of interest are Unix Programming, Cluster Virtualization Technologies, Operating Systems, Cyber Security and Software Defined Networks.

Lina Magoula (female) is a PhD candidate and is working as Researcher at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She obtained her B.Sc from Department of Informatics and Telecommunications, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) with a specialization in “Networking and Telecommunications”. She completed her Master’s Degree with a specialization in “Computer Networking”, at the same Department. Since January 2016, she has been a researcher in the SCAN group actively involved in European Projects, focusing on applied artificial intelligence for next generation telecommunication networks. Her main fields of interest are: Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, 5G and Beyond Networks and Network Function Virtualization.
